The Province of Europe has just concluded a three-week canonical visit that began on 12 March, led by Sr Rekha, General Superior, and her Council. As the first in-person visit since the Province was created, it was a valuable chance to reconnect with who we are and what we are called to do.
The Province is both old and new at the same time. Its roots go back to the very first foundations in England and Italy by St Marie Eugénie, but it was officially formed just eight years ago, bringing together the former provinces of England, Italy, and Belgium and Lithuania. Since then, it has grown into one diverse and vibrant province, walking together in a spirit of communion, shared listening, and hope.
During the visit, the General Council spent time with sisters, collaborators, and friends across communities, schools, and ministries. It was a real moment of encounter—full of listening, sharing, and seeing firsthand the generosity and commitment that drive the mission forward today. One especially joyful moment was the solemn profession of Sr Francesca in Twickenham, a beautiful witness of lifelong commitment and faith.
The visit concluded in Tournai with an extended Provincial Plenary Council, where there was time to reflect, share, and look ahead. Updates included the development of a new international community in Tenerife, serving vulnerable people and migrants, as well as ongoing collaboration with lay partners through Assumption Together and youth volunteer programmes.
Above all, the visit was a moment of gratitude—for the richness of community life, the wisdom of older sisters, and even the challenges that help us grow. It ended on Palm Sunday with a shared celebration, a simple but powerful reminder that, despite distances and differences, we continue to walk forward together in faith, mission, and hope.
