Between the 6th and the 8th of October Rome thousands of religious from around the world have gathered in Rome for the Jubilee of Consecrated life, one of the events organised to mark this jubilee year. In Rome, consecrated people from all over the world have joined for a few days of discussions and exchange, mass with the Holy Father and celebration of the sacraments. The sisters of the Province of Europe have participated in the celebrations with a small delegation.
Sr Geeta, from the province of India, but currently spending two years in England, shares her reflections on the experience: “Taking part in the Jubilee was a deep and beautiful experience for me. People from many countries, languages, and religious congregations came together at St. Peter’s Basilica. Though we were so different, I felt a strong sense of unity — one heart and one faith. There were moments of silence and listening, when words were not needed. In that silence, I could feel the movement of the Holy Spirit, bringing peace, joy, and understanding among us.”
She adds: “This Jubilee reminded me that consecrated life is a sign of hope — a call to show that God’s mercy includes everyone and that no one is excluded from His love.”
I experienced true fraternity and synodality, walking and praying together as one family of God. This gave me a deep desire to live and share a culture of peace, solidarity, and communion in my daily life.
Sr Geeta concludes: “As I return home, I wish to be a bearer of peace — through listening, kindness, and hope — letting the Spirit continue to guide my journey each day.”
