Jolanta, our International Volunteer from England, has just returned home from two weeks at our bilingual primary school in Como, the Istituto San Carpoforo. Jolanta took part in the English Summer Camp as a English native language speaker supporting children and teachers. She says: “I am grateful for my experience in Como, Italy. The school’s mission to improve students’ English and to provide support for families through summer activities for their children is truly commendable. It has been inspiring to see the progress the children made over my few weeks here, and I felt privileged to provide extra support to both students and teachers when needed.”

Reflecting on her experience she adds: “The Sisters have been incredibly kind and gracious, and their care has made my time volunteering feel so welcoming and supportive. I admire the dedication they show in their work, as it truly reflects the values of St. Marie Eugenie. I feel humbled to share in their morning, midday, and evening prayers, as well as Mass.”

After a lively and fun-filled week in the school, Jolanta had a chance to visit Como and the surrounding mountains and lake and comments: “I sincerely appreciate the guidance the Sisters have offered in helping me navigate Como and the local area. It has made a significant difference in allowing me to make the most of my time in Italy.”

About the Assumption Volunteers programme Jolanta says: “This experience has touched my heart and motivated me to explore further opportunities with them in the future, for which I am truly thankful”.
