Provincial Chapter of the Province of Europe

January 7, 2025

From the 2nd to the 5th of January Sisters delegated from our communities in Italy, Belgium, Lithuania and England have gathered in the mother house of Auteuil, Paris, for the Chapter of the Province of Europe. The Chapter elected the new provincial council, who will assist Sr Danguolė in the government of the Province for the next three years. Congratulations to Sr Mariadele, from Italy, Sr Françoise Emmanuel, from Belgium, and Sr Cathy, from England, and our heartfelt thank you for accepting this important mission!

After the election, the Chapter was joined by a delegation of lay friends and collaborators from each country, who shared on their experience of being part of the mission of the Assumption through work, collaboration, friendship and journeying with the sisters. Their input nourished and inspired the reflections of the Chapter, as it set out to accomplish its next task, that is the production of the new Provincial project. The project is based on the the province reflections on the themes and priorities proposed by the last General Chapter, which took place in July, and it will outline the directions and priorities that that are to guide the Province over the next three years.

During the Chapter the sisters and their lay collaborators also had the opportunity to visit the recently re-opened cathedral of Notre Dame and take part in the solemn vespers and in the celebration of mass. It was a very special and blessed experience to be able to access again a place that is so meaningful for the history of Marie Eugenie and for that of the Congregation, while sharing together in the beautiful liturgy.
