What is it that truly sets your heart on fire and gives direction to your life? For St. Marie Eugénie, this inner drive was essential to education: an energy of the soul that unifies the person and inspires action. She believed that education is not only about knowledge, but about forming character, awakening conviction, and helping young people become fully themselves.
In today’s interconnected world, the Religious of the Assumption continue to promote this vision across cultures and continents. Though rooted in different realities, Assumption schools in the world share one mission and one spirit, grounded in faith, openness to the world, and a deep sense of communion. This shared identity has been made visible through the World Tour of Assumption Schools, an initiative of the Province of Europe (Italy, Belgium, Lithuania, and England) inviting us to journey virtually beyond boundaries.
For St. Marie Eugénie, this inner drive was essential to education: an energy of the soul that unifies the person and inspires action. She believed that education is not only about knowledge, but about forming character, awakening conviction, and helping young people become fully themselves.
Through these encounters, we have discovered how Assumption values are lived concretely around the world. The journey began in the Philippines with the value “God First,” continued to Chad through a strong witness to integrity, moved to Nicaragua highlighting joyful generosity, then on 9th February, the 50th Anniversary of the Beatification of St. Marie Eugenie, we virtually ‘flew’ to Mother Marie Eugenie Secondary in Tanzania exploring the value of passion and zeal.
At Mother Marie Eugénie Secondary School in Singida, the Assumption spirit is clearly alive. It is seen in the dedication of educators, the engagement of students, and a school culture shaped by faith, service, and responsibility. One particularly striking sign of this commitment is the care shown for the integrity of creation, expressed through environmental and sustainability projects such as farming, fish ponds, and animal rearing. This approach was recently recognized by the Tanzanian Minister of Education, who named the school a model for discipline and environmental education in the Singida region.
With amazement and gratitude, this journey reminds us that the charism of St. Marie Eugénie continues to take flesh in today’s world. It is in this same inner drive that we now turn our gaze toward the next virtual journey, leading us to a school Europe, where we will discover how family spirit is lived in Assumption schools. This shared path continue to nurture the passion within us that moves us to act with purpose and hope. Here we are! stepping into a passion and zeal that animates our hearts, discovering it, letting it awaken life and direction in each of us.
