From 21 to 24 May, around forty sisters from Belgium, France, Spain, England and Lithuania met at Auteuil (Paris, France), all having passed the respectable age of 70! It was a joy to get to know some of them, or to meet up again with friends or companions from the novitiate. Above all, it was a joy to be together at the Source, close to Marie Eugénie. She preceded us on this journey and, thanks to Sr Véronique, we were able to benefit from her testimony and advice.
Yes, old age is a journey with many ‘passages’, and everyone knows that this path is sometimes steep. It was good to simply share our experience, sometimes with questions and concerns, but above all with a lot of thanksgiving and confidence!
These verses from a psalm, mentioned by Sr Rekha, sum up our experience: ‘From my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I proclaim your marvels. Despite my old age and white hair, do not abandon me, my God, so that I may proclaim your strength to the next generation’. (Ps 71:17-18)
