Gain valuable hands-on experience working with children and young people through creative, practical and outdoor sessions at Kids Kabin, a children’s activity centre founded by the Assumption Sisters.
Based in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, Kids Kabin works with children aged 8–12 living in disadvantaged communities. Interns work alongside the team in schools during the day and organise creative and practical workshops in the afternoons, evenings and school holidays, at the main centre, in community venues and through innovative mobile workshops.
There will also be opportunities to get involved in camping and bike rides in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Throughout the placement, participants develop skills in working with children and young people, leading activities, teamwork, communication, creativity and community engagement. They are encouraged to bring their own ideas and creativity, while supporting individual children to explore their interests, develop new skills and turn their ideas into reality.
With a varied programme of activities and settings, no two days are the same, making this a valuable opportunity to build practical skills, contribute to the local community and make a positive difference in the lives of young people.
