We are the Religious of the Assumption
We make Jesus Christ and His Church known and loved
In our European Province we respond to the challenges of society in Belgium, England, Italy and Lithuania, moving forward together, ready to take risks in response to new calls.
Assumption Sisters
Called by Christ to community, adoration and mission
The Religious of the Assumption (Assumption Sisters) are an international Catholic congregation of about 1,000 Sisters of 40 nationalities, responding to the challenges and calls of society in 32 countries around the world. We were founded by St Marie Eugenie in 1839 to make Jesus Christ and his Church known and loved. Our way of life is both contemplative and apostolic. Educators by vocation, we live and pray together in communities.
Province of Europe
Our Province was created in 2018 and unites 12 communities from Belgium, England, Italy and Lithuania. We share our charism and mission in the international context: we learn from one another appreciating our differences which enrich us. The Spirit impels us to go forward and “to risk ourselves together in response to new calls.”
